Amos to step down as England rethink bid strategy
Baroness Amos is expected to step down from the board of England’s 2018 World Cup bid today as they review their campaign following recent remarks from FIFA vice president Jack Warner.
Amos’ future on the board had been under review following her appointment with bid rivals Australia as High Commissioner. Bid leader Lord Triesman has hoped their Amos’ wide contacts in Africa would help the bid but it is anticipated her resignation will be confirmed today.

The bid board are also likely to discuss whether or not to alter the campaign strategy alongside the progress made on the request for £5 million of government funding.
However, bid insiders are convinced their overall strategy remains on the right path as they look to regain momentum before the end of the year.
