2030 China/Australia most likely China
and by the time im 40 i would give up and figure out that australia wont get it in my liftime

2022 maybe in Europe but Sepp Blatter is biased against England so Sweden, France or somewhere would get it ahead of us

yeah i hope england gets to host the wc in 2018 coz we havnt go one in ages but i totally agree that australia deserve to host the 2018 world cup and we should wait till 2022. if australia host 2018 then the 2022 world cup will definetly b in europe

2030 possibly since FIFA will most likely consider Europe in 2018, North America for 2022 (reason why? Japan/Korea 2002), then Europe again for 2026, then Asia region 2030…

reality 2030…and then MAYBE Australia will host it, with a big fat question mark.

i mean, i would love for it to be here
but…it just isnt the way its gonna be..
i say let Englna dhave it 2018
and us aussies in 2022,,,,
its only fair, and besides, we need time to build 10 stadiums..
ok ok…the MCG is fkn awesome, but….the seating…way too far away.
it would be like watching ants play…
meh, it aint up to is any way

mate, our stadiums are crap.
for instance…the seats are way too far from the oval.
no one wanst to be far from the action…
this is what FIFA are considering…different seating.
and what are the AFL gonna do….???
what happens if the AFL season is on dduring the World Cup????
this is a major problem.
in my opinion, i would NOT go and see a game of soccer that is
too far away. ive see people use binoculares at the footy…
many different cultures will be coming to Australia if the World Cup was held here….they wouldnt be too happy if they had to fly acros the world
and not be able to see the game….that would suck
keep it in europe…unless FFSA can do sumthing about the seating

What you guys are missing though, is it is Englands turn!
England gave football to the world and it has been too long since it has held a World Cup(especially considering the likes of Mexico have hosted it twice!)
Wembley is the home of football, and no Cricket, Rugby or Aussie Rules stadium can EVER compete with that I’am afraid guys.
Go for 2022 though!

Jonnie, I’ve been through your little list of Aussie venues and deleted those which are either too small or too old, and reduced the multiple city venues to the correct number… The picture looks a little different…

Melbourne: MCG 102,000, Telstra Dome 57,000*
Sydney: ANZ Stadium 84,000, Sydney Football Stadium 44,000*
*Note - only one of Melbourne OR Sydney can have two venues.
Adelaide: Bonython Stadium 45,000 (if it gets built)
Perth: New Stadium 60,000.
Brisbane: Suncorp Stadium 53,000
add Newcastle’s EnergyAustralia Stadium (once the extensions are completed) and that gives you a grand total of 7 (2 of which are yet to break ground), of a required 10. Where else are we (for I too am in Australia) going to construct new football friendly 40-50k stadia - Canberra, Wollongong, Gold Coast, Geelong, Hobart?

Then all we have to worry about is the lack of suitable hotel accomodation around the ‘non tourism’ areas, the poor communications links, and the low population… THEN all we have to do is get over the time zone and distance issues (Sth Korea/Japan conquered these through sheer weight of population)… THEN all we have to do is hope that after we’ve done all this England, the USA, China, Spain, or whoever, don’t manage to put in a bid that goes BEYOND the minimum requirements.

You’re right Jonnie, we do have a number of venues that can be considered but not sure if we have enough that are 40,000 or more in capacity. That is an FFA requirement. Some of those above can be used for training venues though.
Also, only one city is allowed to host two venues so it could be tough to marry up the requirements.
