Cities to present World Cup bids
The 15 cities hoping to be a part of England’s 2018 World Cup bid have submitted their campaigns at Wembley stadium that they hope will see them included in the 2018 bid team’s final proposal.
Following Portsmouth’s recent withdrawel, the cities who have submitted a bid are:
London
Manchester
Sheffield
Liverpool
Milton Keynes
Newcastle/Gateshead
Sunderland
Birmingham
Nottingham
Derby
Leeds
Hull
Plymouth
Leicester
Bristol
Around 10 of the cities will be chosen for inclusion whilst between 12 and 18 stadiums will be used during the tournament if England are successful.
London, Liverpool, Manchester and Sheffield will submit bids that contain more than one stadium. Sheffield will hope that Bramall Lane and Hillsborough will be given the nod whilst Liverpool’s campaign centres around new stadium plans for both Liverpool and Everton. Manchester will expect Old Trafford to be accepted and will be hopeful of seeing the City of Manchester stadium also included.
London’s proposal is unique in having four stadium’s put forward. These are Wembley, the Emirates stadium, Tottenham’s proposed new ground and the 2012 Olympic stadium. Only Wembley is certain of being included in the bid due to the national stadium hosting the first match and the tournament final.
Other controversial campaigns include Bristol and Nottingham who have centred their bid around yet to be built stadiums whilst Milton Keynes is actually a town but is basing it’s campaign around modern facilities and potential to expand.

I think Plymouth will be a great host, as people that live in the South West will be more able to see World cup football, without having to do silly travelling to the likes of Newcastle or Sunderland. Seven hours of travelling is ridiculous. Also it’ll benefit the area like mad. It has lots of holiday parks and will be able to take care of lots of tourists.
South West England is a lovely part of the Country, particularly in the Summer months, and Plymouth is a fantastic idea for a host City.
The Cities chosen and their nicely spread locations across the Country, will give the England 2018 bid the greatest possible chance of success.
i think that London should not host the world cup because they have got the 2012 Olympics. I also think that a small city like Plymouth should hold it because it is only a small place. it would be easy to get to from Wales and France
