Come on England! We should have this it has been too long.

  2. duane bale

It will be great for England to host the world cup. It has some of the best stadiums in the world, and the English leave is the best in the world. In 2018 it would have been 54 years since it was previously hosted in England. It is about time the place which created the beautiful game could host the biggest football event in the world again.

  3. John

The FA must make every possible attempt to ensure that the 2018 world cup is hosted in England. It is absolutely imperative.

The stadiums on offer are simply world-class and are crying out to host world cup matches and it is certainly possible that further stadium developments will have taken place by 2018.

At the moment, stadiums such as Wembley, Old Trafford, Emirates, St James’ Park, Eastlands, Stadium of Light, and Villa Park already make an England bid look very attractive.

  4. James Martin

There is one true home for football and for that reason alone the cup should be brought back home! If we host the world cup the whole nation will be behind it and also we will have a much better chance of winning as well. Our stadiums are ready, we could host the world cup tomorrow if we wanted to.

The World Cup has got to come home!

  5. josh reynolds

Cmon lets be havin the world cup in england, our stadiums are second to none, and the atmosphere will be out of this world. our the stadiums listed going to be the actual stadiums for the games or are they just a draft. Because surley there will be bigger newer stadiums such as the oylmipic stadium, and theres always white heart lane, anywayz Cmon england!!!!!!!!

  6. Conrad

Cmon England the world cup should be at the home of football.

  7. Luke Mizzi (from Malta)

Italy have hosted 4 major tournaments,Germany 3,Spain 2, Mexico 2.It isn’t right that England, the creators of the Beautifual game have only hosted 2 tournaments. England will do a fantastic job in hosting the 2018 World Cup,with the fantastic stadiums like Wembley,Old Trafford,Emirates,Stamford Bridge etc.. We just have to organise a better bid unlike 2006 .

    Come on England

The Maltese are backing you for 2018 !

  8. Ben Virgo

Come on England. Football is England and England is football. England 2018 will be the best World Cup ever.

Ben in Guangzhou, China (from England, UK).

  9. Simon Hopkins

Logically the finals should come to England soon.

    Reasons:

1 Euro 1996 showed we can do it
2 2002 Commonwealth Games showed we can do it
3 A lot of important infrastructure will be in place after the 2012 Olympics, a lot is already in place
4 The prestige of playing in England will mean a great deal to teams from all over the world

  10. Alex Buja

Well, the last time we hosted it we won it.
We’re in Europe which surely has the highest football fan per person in its population.
This will inspire even more young England fans to dream of playing for their nation.

    I’m backing for 2018!!!

  11. Ken Osborne

Football needs to come home, we are the most passionate football fans in the world-which would create a brilliant atmosphere, loads of world class stadiums. FIFA needs to bring football home again, 1966 was one of the world cup’s best years, why not bring football home?

    FOOTBALL’S COMIN’ HOME FOR 2018

    Ken in Brisbane, Australia
    From London, England
    13 years old

  12. Chris Egan

USA are making a bid for the 2018 World Cup, yet they last hosted it in 1994! Imagine how well England hosting the World Cup would boost tourism and other related issues. The last time we hosted it was in 1966, and yet we’re being told that the USA may be more likely to host it, even though the last time they hosted it was a mere 13 years ago, and the last time we hosted it was 41 years ago!! Football’s got to come back home, imagine the potential growth it would give to stadiums around the country. The 10 grounds selected if England did sucessfully win the bid should almost definately include White Hart Lane, no matter how much ‘refurbishment’ may be required. It’s a pinnacle of our society!!

  13. koladude

England! 2018 comon, a lot would have probaly changed, but England should host as they are hosting the olympics we will have the best facilities around!!

  14. John Finneran (from Canada)

England have the best case to host the World cup in 2018. The best league in the world, excellent grounds, fantastic support and 40+ years since hosting the World Cup. It would be very exciting especially if Mourinho is the England Manager by then.
John & Jacki in Toronto, Canada.

  15. james

football should come home i live right by wembley so i am keeping my fingers crossed….when is a decision due

  16. Adian Jones

There is no other country with as strong a case to host the world cup and there never will be. England tops the world for every set of criteria.
Hopefully we will be winners hands down.

  17. Matthew Zammit

England should host the 2018 World Cup
    look:
    Final: Wembly
    3rdPlace:Twickenham or Olympic Stadium
Semi Finals: Old Trafford or Olympic Stadium.

    There are also:
    New Liverpool Stadium
    The Emirates
    St James Park
    Stadium of light
    Villa Park
    Elland Road
    Stamford Bride
    The Valley
    BIrmangham

Really Fantastic stadiums, for me last year Germany only had two good stadiums Berlin and the Allianz

Go England the Maltese are behind you

  18. oliver newton

    comon england

  19. Marc Keinch

England has the best league in the world with players from all over the world. It is fitting then that the world cup should be hosted here, complimented by are fine stadiums all over the country such as the Emirates, Old Trafford and Wembley.

  20. richard martin

England deserve the right to host such a prestigioues tournament over 50 years after we last held it

  21. Mike

Brin the world cup to england lads… not enough room behind grounds though, but Euro 96 was a massive success but lower ticket prices for games like Bulgaria v Romania and Turkey v Croatia for it to be good for the economy

  22. Mike

Bring the world cup to england lads… not enough room behind grounds though, but Euro 96 was a massive success but lower ticket prices for games like Bulgaria v Romania and Turkey v Croatia for it to be good for the economy

  23. LORENZO

    ENGLAND 2018……BORN AND LIVE HERE—-

  24. kev

England is the only place to host it the home of football. There is no other choice. English till i die.

  25. Mark

England should host it. If FIFA want a rotational system why go to USA again? England has the correct weather conditions to host the world cup as it is at a temperature where high tempo football can take place for a longer period of time (unless global warming increases temperatures). We have the stadia to make this World Cup great.

  26. Sam Stimpson-Bugh

By 2018 it people say that most nearly all stadiums in the Premiership and Championship will have quite large capacities, and some in Leagues One and Two will two. We are also the most passionate supporters in the world as well, so bring it back to England for the first time in while, because USA has already hosted it in the last 10 years, we haven’t. COME ON ENGLAND!!!!!!!!

  27. Euan Anckorn

England should host the world cup in 2018 because it has the best stadiums, the best infastructure and the most passion for the game. Most the other nation have hosted in the last 20 years or so. England is the home of football and we need the world cup to come to England.

  28. Chris.T

England is the home land of football. We deserve the torament with clearly the most passionate fans and best facillities for stadiums in the world. We have potentially 13 stadiums exceeding the 40,000 capacity mark and have argubally the best football league in the world. By 2018 football would have been away from England for 52 years. Its time to bring it home. So what if the usa and austrialia want to hold it. Who the hell are they. I mean why on earth would you let the host country hold the world cup when thier national sport isn’t football. Its complete madness. We are holding the olimpics in 2012 so our facilities are up to scratch and transport is good. England4 lyf. The world cups got my full backing and should have yours. sepp blatter make the right decision for once.

  29. polly

england can hold the world cup, of course they can. look at 2012 and wot wonders that will do for england and we can take it one step more. weve got the best stadium in the world to hold it , wembely, and with monster stadiums in old trafford and emirates, not including new anfeild n any new ones between now and then. co i see no reason wot so ever.
    COME ON ENGLAND

  30. Ryun

Lets bring the cup home for once win on home soil again

    england

  31. Charlie Lynes

England deserve the World Cup in 2018. lets face it, we have the best stadiums in the world and have already shown we can host major sporting events in this country. I do believe a lot will ride of the outcome of the Olympics to be held 2012. Unlike other countries who wouyld have to build new stadia to accomodate the competition, we have awesome venues ready built and functioning every week.

  32. Aladair Price

    I good world cup 2018

  33. boypathos

I think it is long over due that England hosts the World Cup in 2018. But unlikewhat we are doing for 2012 a more concerted effort should be made to spread the benefits around the nation as a whole…

8 groups I think could be based in

    North East Newcastle and Sunderland
North West the two new staduim of Liverpool and Everton
Manchester Old Trafford and Man City
Yorkshire Elland Road and a Sheffield staduim
Midlands Villa Park and Pride Park
South Southampton and Portsmouth the new one already proposed
West I would include Millennuim and the only new one for Bristol
Scotland (why not, it will be part of the UK, still I hope) Glasgow Edinburgh

Note how I have avoided London … it would make alot of sense in terms of security, avoid too many opposing fans and spread economic benefits to the rest of country for once…

The final of course would be played at Wembley….

  34. jonathan clark

52 years on. England should host the World Cup and The North East should play a part in this because there is stadia like St. James Park , The Stadium of Light , The Riverside and even the 25,294 seater stadia The Balfour Webnet Darlington Arena in Darlington . Come on England

  35. Jason McInnis

Yeh, we need to host the World Cup on our soil, because the weather conditions will be to our advantage. With new stadiums being built, this is the chance we need to show what we’re capable of. Come on boys, England all the way.

  36. Paula

My son will be leading the England team out of the tunnel in 2018. I know this cos I dreamed it last night. I hope my dream comes true!!

  37. Ron Kenson

It’s got to be England. Come on, lads!

  38. Nathan

We’re at the point where we have to ask people a lot older than us what the world cup in England was like. We have a much higher standard of stadiums as some of the countries bidding. The world cup needs to come back to the country where football was invented!

  39. John

It’s about time that FIFA recognised the huge potential of the UK, and England in particular, to host such a festival of sport. (52 years is TOO long since we last had it!)
Here, we will have loads of World-class venues (New Wembley, Old Trafford, New Liverpool Ground, Emirates, St. James’ Park, City of Manchester, even the Olympic Stadium, if they decide to abandon the ludicrous plan to know half of it down after the OGs in 2012. There are loads more, including an extended Madejski… need I go on?)

  40. Paul Silvester

The bid would have my full support. I’m an expat living in Australia and nothing would give me more joy than to come home and see England stage the World Cup.

The stadia in England are collectively the best football grounds in the world. Other countries may have lots of big stadiums but many are for sports other than football. It detracts from the atmosphere when your too far from the action.

If Australia for example got the world cup, some of the cricket and Aussie rules oval’s would be used. I went to rugby world cup games over here and the oval grounds just were not suitable. China would have a similar problem with many of the grounds being for baseball. I went to the England v Argentina game in Sapporo, Japan. This was a baseball stadium and whilst the atmosphere that night was electric, the seats at either side were a long way from the pitch.

With Wembley completed there would be no panics over finishing stadiums in time. (e.g. Athens and Beijing Olympics)

To really strengthen the bid I would like to see a very hard line continued with Englands minority of moronic football thugs. But I also feel that the F.A. should stick up for England supporters a bit more as there are several countries with far worse problems in this area than England. (Turkey, Poland, Italy, Argentina and some other Latin American nations, many Eastern Block nations, many African nations.) On the whole England supporters are absolutely fantastic and the F.A. needs to highlight this.

    Come on England!

  41. AUS

England has no chance against the Aussies give it up

  42. richard farrell

england has the best league in the world. the world cup must be held here

Come on lads, bring back one of the greatest times in our history, when Euro 96 brought the country together as one.

  56. Boo do not disturb im sleeping By Jena

Year 4 have been learning about The world cup 2018 and we think that
    England should host the ne

  57. steve

england should definitely hold the 2018 world cup , the only real competition would be from spain , china ,.russia, , but the biggest threat would come from fifa themselves . they do not appear to be england freindly , so perhaps a joint application with scotland might do the trick ,after all we have great stadiums , very good .rail , air, euro tunnel ,links for all , fantastic support . so lets help the olympics and show fifa what england can do .

  58. Lian Hargreaves

Go England!!!!!!!!!! The bid gets my full support!!!!

  59. Charlie Hanley

    GO ENGLAND.

Im Scottish and I even support the bid, there is no fitter nation in my opinion, and the support from England, the World and FIFA is clear.

  60. s badder

i think if england hosted the world cup it would be a great achievement for us but the behaviour of some british “fans” have really let us down like the uefa cup final. Rangers fans really were a disgrace and football these days is overrun by hooliganism which could be a real setback for our bid

  61. John Gaunt

I hope that England don’t get the 2018 world cup. The FA are utterly incapable of running a bath, never mind a major football tournament.

  62. Mad Badger

Absolutely not .The FA are completely incompetent .So here is to hoping we dont host the tournament .Forza 2020

  63. Ali

the world of football is corrupt, which has been proved in our case. we have honest people here now, and all the fa/fl have done is shaft us because of it. how many more ‘little’ clubs have to scavenge for a chance of surviving, while the fa shine their love-light on the premiership? LUTON TOWN FAN

  64. Shep

Who cares where the 2018 World Cup is held, England will probably be the first host nation to fail to qualify such is the incompetence of the FA. Brian Barwick reminds me of Trigger from Only Fools and Horses…..with slightly less intelligence.

If I had to choose, Italy or Spain would be my choice for a Team England-Less World Cup in 2018.

  65. Hatters will never die

I would rather stand naked under a wasps nest and belt it with a hammer than ever allow myself to attend anything related to the incompetent halfwits known as “the FA” – so forget it!

  66. the two brians

will not be supporting this bid.

the FA do not care about the lower level teams in the league. we need all fans to get behind LUTON TOWN and this ridiculous points deficit we face this season.
they are a complete and utter joke

    forza 2020

  67. Duane Anstey

what would be the point in hosting a tournament?
oh yeah, i get it, its the only way we can be sure to qualify………….lets hope they change the rules about hosts automatically qualifying before then. As the fa are a complete an utter joke, im sure they would still manage to “fix it” so that england were able to play.
its about time those halfwits at fa hq concentrated on the many injustices in the game before they even begin to think they could host such a tournament.

FA, we all know what that stands for.

  68. Bighat

An Organisation that have completely obliterated english football from employing the great steve mclaren ( seriously who thought he could take us to wuro glory) and then trying to murder one of the oldest clubs in the game, Luton Town FC, by being an out of touch , incoherant, arrogant excuse for a footballing authority.

i wouldnt trust them organising a 5 aside tournament let alone the World championships of the game…

I seriously hope that FIFA look at how the FA serve the smaller clubs , the foundation the nations football and then make a decision..

Mr Barwick youve got no chance !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    FORZA LTFC FORZA 2020

  69. Teacher (LTFC)

You can stick your World Cup bid right up your arse.

Support proper football, not Premiershite “slaves” and freeloading, bungling , incompetent , corrupt and vile FA bigwigs and their vainglorious attempts to make themselves look important.

NO to the FA and FL.

YES to justice and the fan of proper football.

  70. Luton Lifer

After the FA’s dreadful treatment of Luton I must conclude that the FA are incapable of organising such an event. I will never ever buy any England merchandise, attend any games and will not put any more money into Skys coffers….English football is dead ……RIP

  71. No Way

No way do I support a bid from a bunch of stuffed shirts who, in my opinion, have lost touch with what football is all about and couldn’t care less about any team outside of the Premier…..

    NO TO THE ENGLAND BID!!!!!!!

  72. Phil O’Sofickle

I echo John Gaunt’s comments. And I hope if the FA do get lucky and are awarded the WC2018 that they go bankrupt. They nearly did with the Wembley fiasco, and based on that, I doubt they could organise a p!ss up in a brewery, let alone the world’s premier football tournament. Give it to a country that would benefit from it. If they do go bankrupt, football may stand a chance of recovering from the terminal decline we find ourselves in. If you don’t believe me, check the finances of the top three in the Premiership. How can it be considered sport when realistically only three teams stand a chance of winning it? Football in this country died a long time ago. The FA and FL have destroyed the game and removed its soul. In its place they have created a corporate monster that one day will implode. When that happens, real fans will get their sport back…

  73. AnnORack

I hope that the FA f uck up their application to the same degree that they have tried to f uck Luton Town FC.

  74. G Block Hatter (Luton Town)

Somewhat biased I know, however, the imcompetence of the powers that be in this country is more than enough of a reason to not let them host any such thing.

Also, would the FA REALLY want to be responsible for parading slaves infront of millions of people across the world? After it was abolished in British law back in the 1800′s

  75. Paul

The FA are a bunch of idiots. Could not organise a piss up in a brewery. They are institutionally racist, sexist and only believe in the growth and development of clubs with money. NEVER SHALL ENGLAND HOST THE WORLD CUP

  76. 7 Past Shilton

My england shirt is in the bin my england mug is smashed The FA can burn in hell
    Never forget
    Never forgive
    Forza Luton Forza 2020
Its Luton town only England can f##k off

  77. Roger Holdstock

The FA have proved time and time again they cannot be trusted to do anything correctly. Please FIFA, don’t let them embarress us in front of the rest of the world.

  78. Langford Hat

Who cares were the 2018 world cup is held

    The FA is a joke

Their treatment of LUTON TOWN FC IS A DISGRACE

They are trying to KILL ONE OF THE OLDEST CLUBS IN THE COUNTRY

I hope ENGLAND NEVER WIN ANOTHER GAME

  79. Batsman

Sod the World Cup in England, sod bidding to stage it here and sod qualifying for 2010.Sod the World Cup in England, sod bidding to stage it here and sod qualifying for 2010 as well. Over the last few days what Luton Town and any decent football supporters have learnt is that honesty does not get you anywhere in the eyes of the deluded old cretins who run our once proud national game. The FA and Football League insult the majority of this nation with their inane ramblings and judgments and should not be trusted to bring the World Cup to our country. They should hang their heads in shame but won’t because of their arrogance and complete indifference to small clubs like Luton.

You can stick England and the World Cup up yer ‘arris.

Also if the powers that be at Luton Airport had anything about them they’d put a stop to the ‘glory’ boys using their facilities for away games.

  80. The Outsider

The FA can rot in hell as far as I am concerned. The bunch of incompetent old farts running the game in this country are an absolute embarrassment. What is the point getting the 2018 World Cup when the pathetic people running the game in this country means that England, probably, wouldn’t qualify anyway !

Presumably, FA stands for FOOTBALL ASSASSINS – or is it F***ING A***HOLES ?

    SAY NO TO 2018

    SAY YES TO 2020*

    * For those that don’t know, 2020 is the group who are buying Luton but are being shafted by the FA and the FL.

  81. Cable Hogue

The FA is a brand, a business, an atrocity, far divorced from the grass roots that it purports to endorse.

Bend over and touch your toes for corporate sponsorship, you may as well merge with McDonalds. Grab for those crumbs from the Premier banquet while you can. Forget about everyone else at your peril. You have turned many good people against you and they will not forget.

  82. Simon Arnold

The FA are not fit and proper people to run football in this country let alone a world cup. Give it to somewhere else that treats club equally and fairly.

They are a disgrace and until they get their house in order and stop behaving in such an abusive manner to small clubs they can go take a running jump.

  83. Jim

Give the world cup to zimbabwe. mugabe and his cronies would do better than barwick and his crowd.

    FORZA 2020!!!!!!!!!
    VIVA LUTONIA!!!!!!!!!!!

  84. Archie

Everyone saw how bad Switzerland and Austria were in Euro 2008.
Well that’s what England will be like in 2018 if it continues to be run by the current incompetents that make the decisions.
The decisions recently about Luton Town show that they will not be happy until they have ruined everything that is good about English football and only have 7 or 8 teams left full of foriegn “Slaves”.

    No to 2018…..Yes to 2020!!!

  85. SW15

Far more important than any world cup, I hope more than anything that the self-serving, morally corrupt cowards at the FA manage to get their snouts out of the trough long enough to realise that they’ve killed football in this country.

Their treatment of Luton Town FC, and small clubs in general, is nothing short of scandalous.

    I despise them.

  86. Johnny hackett

Get your noses out the trough of Premiershi* money and support football teams and not try to kill them.World Cup 2018 no thanks I don’t find watching poor slaves chasing a ball entertainment.Brian Barwick resign you incompetent fool NOW.

  87. Strummer

I echo all the sentiments above. I used to have pride in the England football team, but thanks to the money obsessed, prima donnas on the pitch, and the incompetent, hypocritical, self-serving, unaccountable tosspots at the F.A., England is now an embarrassment. I hope to god that the 2018 bid is laughed out the room. By the way, what ever happened to the root and branch investigation? Something to hide? Moreover, something to lose?

Screw the F.A., Screw the Football League, Up the Hatters

  88. ltfctom.

following the deduction of 10 points for irregular payments to agents by luton town football club information provided to the f.a by the club secretary by the way,it is obvious that the f.a,s whistle blower programme is designed to deter people informing of any wrong doing at clubs and the f.a can keep sweeping it under the carpet pretending the game is whiter than white as they have done with birmingham, derby and newcastle. do you seriously think a group as corrupt as the f.a should hold a major competition such as this i think for the good of the game it should be held anywhere but England.

  89. Chris Norton

There is no way that England should be given the 2018 World Cup. The Football Association are an utter disgrace and are incapable of organising or governing the game in England. They make up the rules as they go on, punishing smaller clubs with huge point deductions, and letting off the bigger Premiership Clubs due to their larger financial capabilities.

They mucked up the building of Wembley – a project that overan by some time and ending up costing a lot more. They are divorced from the grass roots of the game and are only interested in the corporate side of things.

Under no circumstances should they be given the opportunity to host the 2018 World Cup

  90. Luton Town fans bombard 2018 website after points deduction » 2018 England

[...] Read more of the Luton fan’s comments on the 2018 England petition. [...]

  91. Zealot

This bombardment from Luton fans is utterly understandable.

Why anybody would think that bring the World Cup to this country is a good thing is beyond me. Its nothing more than a marketing strategy from an FA that is no longer interested in governing the game but simply in maximising revenue. If, god forbid, we were to host the World Cup can anyone guess what the ticketing price structure will be? what the merchandising and advertising offensive will be like. And all the while its us, the true fans, who will be getting mugged off.

    No to 2018.

  92. Not So Happy Hatter

I couldn,t give a toss if we held the world cup or not, those old farts at the FA couldn’t organise a piss up in a brewey, they have lost touch with the vast majority of fans and are only interested in their money making Premiership. The unjust treatment of my club Luton Town FC just shows how inept they really are I will never watch an England game or buy any merchandise.
    LUTON TILL I DIE

  93. Fezzer

Fans of english football don’t be fooled that 2018 is a good idea. Only a halfwit would agree such a thing.
All 2018 is designed for is to fleece more money from the pockets of the gullible for the FA to give to the fat cat managers and executives to take out of the game never to be seen again.
The FA is not interested in the grass roots of the game as it does not make them enough money.
The FA have messed around with our sport for too long and continually overcharged the fans for the privilage of them ruining our game.

The day they close the FA down can not come to soon!

  94. Digger

The FA certainly are an embarrassment to the game and I think they’d be well advised to hold off drawing any more attention to themselves.

However, being the greedy and vainglorious fools that they are they won’t understand that they could be at fault whatever happens.

Good luck to Luton Town and also to Bournemouth, Rotherham and any other football club that the authorities try to destroy.

  95. Steve Prior

An organisation that is unanswerable to a higher authority, operates outside of the law and does not recognise the needs of it’s customers does not deserve the respect or support of decent people in this country. Call me old-fashioned but I was brought up to believe that one of the cornerstones of english society is that the guilty are punished for their crimes, the innocent absolved of blame and the victims are protected and healed of their wounds. The FA’s aboherrent and cowardly behaviour in recent weeks clearly demonstrates they no longer buy-in to that.

Support a 2018 bid to host the world cup – don’t make me laugh!
I shall not be supporting the FA’s football team or anything that they do from this point forwards.

  96. Mr Claypole

FIFA, don’t go anywhere near the English FA on this. Maybe the FA couldn’t organise a p!ss up in a brewery, but I’m sure they could easily run a south american banana republic. Something smells bad in football today…….

Premiership team fields ineligible players for most of season gaining clear on-field advantage = no points deducted.

League endorsed owners and directors of lower league team gamble with a clubs future and poorly administrate the running of the club before riding off into the sunset with bagfulls of cash leaving the club and it’s fans on their knees = hammer the club and fans to death with points deductions, and gently slap those who actually broke the rules on the wrists.

The FA should be doing something about the inconsistency in punishmet between these two situations.

But they aren’t because the FA stinks, and football stinks.

You’ve really messed up this time FA.

    The real fans won’t forget.

    WALT!

  97. Jeff

The FA should not be allowed to bring the World Cup here. Their dealings with Luton Town bring our game into disrepute and pours shame on themselves. How can you punish those who have done no wrong for the guilt of the past owners. Surely now is the time to call upon someone upright and trustworthy, like Sir Trevor Brooking, to stand up for the rights of smaller clubs. I’m sure he would if, say, West Ham were to find themselves in the mire over transfer irregularities. And as for the Football League. Oops. We have no right of reply to them so I’d better be quiet.

  98. SiM Card

    Ahh, just think…

The McDonalds Coca-Cola Disney World Nike Cupfest being held in quaint marketable Britainland. All those corporate opportunities, the unmissable chance to pull in wads of cash so that suits with no interest in the game can sup cocktails until just after kick-off and pander their wares to the proles that actually enjoy this ‘sport’. Whilst they’re watching from home, of course, as the ticket prices ‘available’ to all’ would demand a second mortgage – and have you tried getting one of those recently?

Think of the advertising – TV demographics second only to the Superbowl.

There could be issues, though. What on earth will we do if Ecuador and Ghana end up in the same group? Gulp. Best seed the teams based on GDP and marketable population instead. Then we can exclude those with minimal market penetration as early as possible.

Think of the grass roots – all those kids we can get buying junk food will have parents under government instruction to go out and buy sport kit so they don’t end up obese. So what if they all end up thinking football is ‘the new tennis’ – only the rich need apply? It’s not charity, you know.

And our marvelously benevolent and far-sighted FA are going to be running this? The view from their ivory tower must be getting hazier by the day. Not so much out-of-touch as incompetent and uncaring, I fear. However, you can hear the cash registers jangling from 10 years away.

At least the USA don’t PRETEND to be altruistic. Let ‘em have it.

    100th Comment… C’mon England….
At least if we get to host it we don’t have to worry about qualifying…..

  101. ian skinner

i am an everton fan and i have to say that i totally agree with the comments by the luton fans, it is about time that the fa board resigned and made way for a new board that consists of mainly ex footballers with one consultant to advise but not to vote on issues that affect football clubs, then and only then should england be allowed to bid for any major football competition.

  102. joe

    Come on England!

  103. joe

England should get the World cup seeming as we have the best 4 team in the world!

Arsenal , Liverpool , Chelsea and manchester united (i support)

    Brain Barwick shot him!!

  104. Phil

FIFA have given the last 4 European World Cups to Germany, France, Italy and Spain. Only England of the European “Big 5″ have been overlooked and have the existing structure to host the World Cup.

If the bid is decided on ability to hold a successful World Cup, then England, as Franz Beckenbauer says, is the only option.

China, Australia and Qatar have no football pedigree and should be bidding for 2022 instead.

    ENGLAND SHOULD HOST 2012, FIFA!

  105. Joe

Come on England, we can win this bid and ensure that we host the 21st world cup, it will certainly be a dream come true for me and i will deffo go and watch our team play,

    COME ON ENGLAND !!! WOOP

  106. Lucas

    Cmon Englanddd

  107. Luke

In the words of a famous, respected man, and who is also one of the greatest footballers in the history of the game. He is a German by the name of Franz Beckenbauer “In my opinion, there is only one very serious candidate and it is England. I think there is not really a problem to pick a host of the 2018 World Cup.”

    Enough said?

  108. Sam Burton

our last hosted world cup was 1966 – 42 years ago. we’re the home of football, the creators!! So Come on ENGLAND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  116. jc.89
  117. Adam

54 years it will be since we last hosted the world cup if we do get to host the 2018 world cup, FIFA is screwed up as they allowed Mexico to host it twice in just a 16 year gap. COME ON ENGLAND 2018

  118. Anton Wilkins

England has got to host the 2018 world cup!
It has been way to long since we hosted it and I never saw us host it. I am pretty sure that FIFA would consider changing the rule that one city could only have two stadiums if we won it because London has the best stadiums in the world. We have Stamford Bridge, Wembley, Emirates, and the Olympic stadium. Sure the U.S.A has amazing stadiums (I know this because I live there, but I was born in England and am English through and through) but they are too far apart, they aren’t real football stadiums, the U.S.A soccer team sucks, and they hosted back in 94 which isn’t as long ago as 66.
CHELSEA FC AND ENGLAND ALL THE WAY!!!!! LETS WIN THIS THING!!!!!

  119. Michael

2018 England, 2022 Australia, that would be a dream come true.!!!!!

  123. Jayme Huskinson

Bring it home! bring it home! bring it home!

We deserve to have the biggest tournament back in England. The best players come here so it is about time the best Tournament came back!

  124. Josh Fairbrother

This should have come here years ago but now we need it to come home so Cappellos lads can win it at Wembly for the home fans.

  125. F.D.

For a country that founded without doubt the greatest sports on the planet,i feel we get the s**t end of the stick when it comes to major tournaments.i cant think of another country in the world that can come close to the great stadiums we have in england.the worst crimes ever are when stadiums are half empty for world cup games…im sorry but no fans have more passion for the game than the english (british).people seem to try put the spoke in for our bid all the time….no disrespect to mexico but they get it twice within 20 years.Euro 96 was the best euros ever because the fans made it very special because of the great atmosphere and capacity crowds.england should really have to turn it down every 8 years instead of people throwing a spanner in for us every time.

  126. Alex

    CMON ENGLAND

Can not think of a better country to host the world cup

  134. yiddo

    NO TO 2018.

Bringing the World Cup will mean that hundreds of millions of pounds will be wasted as cities like Nottingham and Sheffield try to build boring, identikit stadia to try to jump on the bandwagon.

  135. lucie

2018 world cup should be in englannnd! we deserve it!

  136. Debbie Litten

Can’t think of a better place to host the 2018 World Cup but a country with real passion for the sport… England!

  137. Sam King
