It will be great for England to host the world cup. It has some of the best stadiums in the world, and the English leave is the best in the world. In 2018 it would have been 54 years since it was previously hosted in England. It is about time the place which created the beautiful game could host the biggest football event in the world again.

The FA must make every possible attempt to ensure that the 2018 world cup is hosted in England. It is absolutely imperative.
The stadiums on offer are simply world-class and are crying out to host world cup matches and it is certainly possible that further stadium developments will have taken place by 2018.
At the moment, stadiums such as Wembley, Old Trafford, Emirates, St James’ Park, Eastlands, Stadium of Light, and Villa Park already make an England bid look very attractive.

Reasons:
1 Euro 1996 showed we can do it

4 The prestige of playing in England will mean a great deal to teams from all over the world

USA are making a bid for the 2018 World Cup, yet they last hosted it in 1994! Imagine how well England hosting the World Cup would boost tourism and other related issues. The last time we hosted it was in 1966, and yet we’re being told that the USA may be more likely to host it, even though the last time they hosted it was a mere 13 years ago, and the last time we hosted it was 41 years ago!! Football’s got to come back home, imagine the potential growth it would give to stadiums around the country. The 10 grounds selected if England did sucessfully win the bid should almost definately include White Hart Lane, no matter how much ‘refurbishment’ may be required. It’s a pinnacle of our society!!

I think it is long over due that England hosts the World Cup in 2018. But unlikewhat we are doing for 2012 a more concerted effort should be made to spread the benefits around the nation as a whole…
8 groups I think could be based in
North East Newcastle and Sunderland
North West the two new staduim of Liverpool and Everton
Manchester Old Trafford and Man City
Yorkshire Elland Road and a Sheffield staduim
Midlands Villa Park and Pride Park
South Southampton and Portsmouth the new one already proposed
West I would include Millennuim and the only new one for Bristol
Scotland (why not, it will be part of the UK, still I hope) Glasgow Edinburgh
Note how I have avoided London … it would make alot of sense in terms of security, avoid too many opposing fans and spread economic benefits to the rest of country for once…
The final of course would be played at Wembley….

It’s about time that FIFA recognised the huge potential of the UK, and England in particular, to host such a festival of sport. (52 years is TOO long since we last had it!)
Here, we will have loads of World-class venues (New Wembley, Old Trafford, New Liverpool Ground, Emirates, St. James’ Park, City of Manchester, even the Olympic Stadium, if they decide to abandon the ludicrous plan to know half of it down after the OGs in 2012. There are loads more, including an extended Madejski… need I go on?)

The bid would have my full support. I’m an expat living in Australia and nothing would give me more joy than to come home and see England stage the World Cup.
The stadia in England are collectively the best football grounds in the world. Other countries may have lots of big stadiums but many are for sports other than football. It detracts from the atmosphere when your too far from the action.
If Australia for example got the world cup, some of the cricket and Aussie rules oval’s would be used. I went to rugby world cup games over here and the oval grounds just were not suitable. China would have a similar problem with many of the grounds being for baseball. I went to the England v Argentina game in Sapporo, Japan. This was a baseball stadium and whilst the atmosphere that night was electric, the seats at either side were a long way from the pitch.
With Wembley completed there would be no panics over finishing stadiums in time. (e.g. Athens and Beijing Olympics)
To really strengthen the bid I would like to see a very hard line continued with Englands minority of moronic football thugs. But I also feel that the F.A. should stick up for England supporters a bit more as there are several countries with far worse problems in this area than England. (Turkey, Poland, Italy, Argentina and some other Latin American nations, many Eastern Block nations, many African nations.) On the whole England supporters are absolutely fantastic and the F.A. needs to highlight this.
Come on England!

They nearly did with the Wembley fiasco, and based on that, I doubt they could organise a p!ss up in a brewery, let alone the world’s premier football tournament. Give it to a country that would benefit from it. If they do go bankrupt, football may stand a chance of recovering from the terminal decline we find ourselves in. If you don’t believe me, check the finances of the top three in the Premiership. How can it be considered sport when realistically only three teams stand a chance of winning it? Football in this country died a long time ago. The FA and FL have destroyed the game and removed its soul. In its place they have created a corporate monster that one day will implode. When that happens, real fans will get their sport back…

I echo all the sentiments above. I used to have pride in the England football team, but thanks to the money obsessed, prima donnas on the pitch, and the incompetent, hypocritical, self-serving, unaccountable tosspots at the F.A., England is now an embarrassment. I hope to god that the 2018 bid is laughed out the room. By the way, what ever happened to the root and branch investigation? Something to hide? Moreover, something to lose?

following the deduction of 10 points for irregular payments to agents by luton town football club information provided to the f.a by the club secretary by the way,it is obvious that the f.a,s whistle blower programme is designed to deter people informing of any wrong doing at clubs and the f.a can keep sweeping it under the carpet pretending the game is whiter than white as they have done with birmingham, derby and newcastle. do you seriously think a group as corrupt as the f.a should hold a major competition such as this i think for the good of the game it should be held anywhere but England.

There is no way that England should be given the 2018 World Cup. The Football Association are an utter disgrace and are incapable of organising or governing the game in England. They make up the rules as they go on, punishing smaller clubs with huge point deductions, and letting off the bigger Premiership Clubs due to their larger financial capabilities.
They mucked up the building of Wembley - a project that overan by some time and ending up costing a lot more. They are divorced from the grass roots of the game and are only interested in the corporate side of things.
Under no circumstances should they be given the opportunity to host the 2018 World Cup

This bombardment from Luton fans is utterly understandable.
Why anybody would think that bring the World Cup to this country is a good thing is beyond me. Its nothing more than a marketing strategy from an FA that is no longer interested in governing the game but simply in maximising revenue. If, god forbid, we were to host the World Cup can anyone guess what the ticketing price structure will be? what the merchandising and advertising offensive will be like. And all the while its us, the true fans, who will be getting mugged off.
No to 2018.

Fans of english football don’t be fooled that 2018 is a good idea. Only a halfwit would agree such a thing.
All 2018 is designed for is to fleece more money from the pockets of the gullible for the FA to give to the fat cat managers and executives to take out of the game never to be seen again.
The FA is not interested in the grass roots of the game as it does not make them enough money.
The FA have messed around with our sport for too long and continually overcharged the fans for the privilage of them ruining our game.
The day they close the FA down can not come to soon!

The FA certainly are an embarrassment to the game and I think they’d be well advised to hold off drawing any more attention to themselves.
However, being the greedy and vainglorious fools that they are they won’t understand that they could be at fault whatever happens.
Good luck to Luton Town and also to Bournemouth, Rotherham and any other football club that the authorities try to destroy.

An organisation that is unanswerable to a higher authority, operates outside of the law and does not recognise the needs of it’s customers does not deserve the respect or support of decent people in this country. Call me old-fashioned but I was brought up to believe that one of the cornerstones of english society is that the guilty are punished for their crimes, the innocent absolved of blame and the victims are protected and healed of their wounds. The FA’s aboherrent and cowardly behaviour in recent weeks clearly demonstrates they no longer buy-in to that.
Support a 2018 bid to host the world cup - don’t make me laugh!
I shall not be supporting the FA’s football team or anything that they do from this point forwards.

FIFA, don’t go anywhere near the English FA on this. Maybe the FA couldn’t organise a p!ss up in a brewery, but I’m sure they could easily run a south american banana republic. Something smells bad in football today…….
Premiership team fields ineligible players for most of season gaining clear on-field advantage = no points deducted.
League endorsed owners and directors of lower league team gamble with a clubs future and poorly administrate the running of the club before riding off into the sunset with bagfulls of cash leaving the club and it’s fans on their knees = hammer the club and fans to death with points deductions, and gently slap those who actually broke the rules on the wrists.
The FA should be doing something about the inconsistency in punishmet between these two situations.
But they aren’t because the FA stinks, and football stinks.
You’ve really messed up this time FA.
The real fans won’t forget.
WALT!

The FA should not be allowed to bring the World Cup here. Their dealings with Luton Town bring our game into disrepute and pours shame on themselves. How can you punish those who have done no wrong for the guilt of the past owners. Surely now is the time to call upon someone upright and trustworthy, like Sir Trevor Brooking, to stand up for the rights of smaller clubs. I’m sure he would if, say, West Ham were to find themselves in the mire over transfer irregularities. And as for the Football League. Oops. We have no right of reply to them so I’d better be quiet.

Ahh, just think…
The McDonalds Coca-Cola Disney World Nike Cupfest being held in quaint marketable Britainland. All those corporate opportunities, the unmissable chance to pull in wads of cash so that suits with no interest in the game can sup cocktails until just after kick-off and pander their wares to the proles that actually enjoy this ’sport’. Whilst they’re watching from home, of course, as the ticket prices ‘available’ to all’ would demand a second mortgage - and have you tried getting one of those recently?
Think of the advertising - TV demographics second only to the Superbowl.
There could be issues, though. What on earth will we do if Ecuador and Ghana end up in the same group? Gulp. Best seed the teams based on GDP and marketable population instead. Then we can exclude those with minimal market penetration as early as possible.
Think of the grass roots - all those kids we can get buying junk food will have parents under government instruction to go out and buy sport kit so they don’t end up obese. So what if they all end up thinking football is ‘the new tennis’ - only the rich need apply? It’s not charity, you know.
And our marvelously benevolent and far-sighted FA are going to be running this? The view from their ivory tower must be getting hazier by the day. Not so much out-of-touch as incompetent and uncaring, I fear. However, you can hear the cash registers jangling from 10 years away.
At least the USA don’t PRETEND to be altruistic. Let ‘em have it.

FIFA have given the last 4 European World Cups to Germany, France, Italy and Spain. Only England of the European “Big 5″ have been overlooked and have the existing structure to host the World Cup.
If the bid is decided on ability to hold a successful World Cup, then England, as Franz Beckenbauer says, is the only option.
China, Australia and Qatar have no football pedigree and should be bidding for 2022 instead.
