2010/12 England World Cup Away Kit Launched
Taking a break from the campaign to get the Wordl Cup to England in 2018, today we’ll take a quick look at the new Umbro England Away Kit launched on Monday night in Paris by Kasabian, with the full reveal coming this Tuesday.
England will wear this new kit, in the event of a colour clash, but also wear it to show it off against Egypt at Wembley instead of wearing the 2009/11 white home kit.
At the same time kit manufacturers have revealed they will make 300 pairs of custom Speciali football boots, to celebrate the launch,
This new England kit is in two tones of red, the darker colours running down the shoulders and sleeves, it has a collar in the same tone as the body of the shirt and stand out white cuffs. A subtle red star for the 1966 World Cup win is above the English crest, on the players left chest. The shirt will be worn with white shorts and red socks, the shorts feature the England crest in a stylish red.

The 1966 World Cup victory is something that we should be proud of and that our 2010 team should be focused on repeating. So, why on Earth have we got a ’subtle red star’ on the shirt?
In a World Cup year, the red away strip has a much bigger meaning for fans than normal, as it is of course the strip variant that was worn in our 1966 victory.
Therefore, I find this attempt hugely disappointing.
In a day and age where social media and the internet play such a dominant part in our lives, is it really that difficult for a winning design to be voted on by the fans? We’re the people that buy it, afterall!
