English FA set to campaign in Angola
The English 2018 bid team are to travel to Angola in a bid to appeal to the four key African voters who will decide which nations will be hosting the 2018 and 2022 World Cup.
However, the FA will have to tread carefully after tensions were raised following Phil Brown’s comments that the 2010 World Cup should be taken away from South Africa.
Danny Jordaan, Head of the South Africa 2010 organising committee, said: “Phil Brown was saying the World Cup must be removed from South Africa. I found that very extraordinary. He is not well informed. I will give him a call and talk to him about it. If there is a security breach in any country, it is the responsibility of that country, not ours.”

Jordaan is known to be a supporter of the English bid and the 2018 team will be looking to ensure he is still backing the campaign even though he doesn’t hold a vote.
Lord Triesman and co will be looking to meet with the quartet of African voters in Angola. However, restrictions have recently been placed on the lobbying congress in Angola due to Qatar sponsorship the event in a ploy to solely put their 2022 package forward. As a result, England will organise a series of low key meetings to ensure that they get their bid message across for 2018.
