FA unveil 2018 bid team
Various star studded footballers and managers from around the world have joined the campaign to support England’s bid to host the 2018 World Cup.
England captain John Terry is joined by current teammates Steven Gerrard, Rio Ferdinand, Wayne Rooney, Emile Heskey and David Beckham as the FA’s attempt to win the tournament in 2018 steps up.
Terry said: “England would be a fantastic home for the World Cup if we had the opportunity to stage the tournament in 2018. It has been great to see how much support the England 2018 World Cup bid has already received from people in the game. Important names in football have been coming forward to find out how they can help and our passionate fans can also make a real difference.”

The FA bid team previously suggested that “international figures” will be able to help gather support for the bid all over the world. These claims are proved true as Michael Ballack, Robinho, Michael Essien and Jon Obi Mikel are just some of the names on board.
In addition, some of the biggest names in English football history have pledged their support including Gary Lineker, Alan Shearer, Viv Anderson, Bryan Robson, David Seaman, Stuart Pearce, Peter Shilton, Peter Beardsley, Andrew Cole and John Barnes.
The entire bid squad boasts more than 3,000 international caps and 450 international goals between them.
The FA bid team said: “Each ambassador will offer invaluable support to England 2018 at home and abroad in a variety of ways, including attendance of bid events and international matches, use of their image in promotional materials and meetings with key football stakeholders.”
