Leeds United players back city’s bid
The Leeds United first team have back the bid for Leeds to be one of the host citys at the 2018 World Cup in the latest stage of their campaign.
The team visited Adel Primary School as part of the launch of a new DVD explaining why Leeds should stage matches if England win rights to host the World Cup in 2018.
The DVD, produced by Leeds United and the city council, will be distributed to more than 300 local schools in a move to get the younger generation involved.

Leeds United manager Simon Grayson hoped the 15-minute film would encourage youngsters to get behind the city’s 2018 ambitions.
He said: “The message really is ‘back the bid’. The city has a fine footballing tradition and we want that to continue.”
Leeds United midfielder Jonathan Howson, who arrived with his team-mates on a 2018-branded double-decker bus, reckoned the World Cup would be “massive” for Leeds.
He said: “Looking back to the last time the city hosted a major football tournament, I remember watching Euro 96 on TV. To have that kind of buzz here again would be brilliant.”
Leeds will find out in December 2009 if they have been chosen as a potential host city for the 2018 World Cup.
