NO NO NO The cost of the Olympics is way over the original costs, as will be the costs of the World Cup if held here. It is not sport anymore, it is big business, and only encourages unacceptable behaviour from all involved. Bring back real SPORT FOR ALL at reasonable costs for ALL families.
Hope we get it, Good luck England
never mind no, any avid football supporter man, woman ,or child would back this campaign all the way.what an event it would be,yes there will be people that make money from this, but for the everyday person, who cannot for whatever reason travel to these events abroad, this is there oppurtunity to achieve their dream.i wasnt born when england last won the world cup and i dont want to be deceased when we finally get a chance to watch the three lions on home turf,so please every patriotic fan who supports england lets get behind this campaign ,and lets make people young and old achieve their dreams ,this could be our chance to win.come on england.
can not belive that comment about the cost .after all the money that gets wasted on things and people that dont help this country .It would give the working class something to look forward to be money well spent and i think it would give a massive injection to our economy.Such a stupid coment for a person to make
the olympics and the football world cup are worlds apart….2018 would bring millions in revenue all across the country….if like myself you dont live any where near london…i cant see myself getting the bullett train so i dont miss the swimming finals
will be the best sporting decade in the modern era.i think i and any sports fan will welcome it with open arms…bring on the world cup…please europe does things like this the best way.
maybe having the world cup here for the first time since 66 will encourage clubs to spend less on buying players and nurtureing there own as clubs try and get there young talent into an england shirt, just think of the cash generated in shirt sales and other merchendise too
NO to this bid.
No to corporate ‘partners’ taking over our stadia. No to those same corporate ‘partners’ dictating to the supporters who actually turn up what they can and cannot wear, no to ’security’ telling fans to remove their shirts/trousers because they have a logo from a non-sponsor, no to Budweiser and their ‘pouring rights’ and no to their inflated prices.
No to local council leaders pushing their own agendas and using the bid for that (NO to a shared stadium, Bradley)
No to the jingoistic tabloid hype that will be whipped up should this thing come our way.
NO to England 2018.
Come on england,we deserve to win and bring the trophy home, come on boys and girls,,,england yes to host and yes to win
Enhance our bid for the world cup in 2018 and do something really good for sport by including Ireland in the bid – as a joint arrangement – even if their involvement is limited to one playing site, Dublin. This would get FIFA off the Henri hook and show some solidarity with our close neighbours. Football deserves such a move so go for it.
yesssssssssssssssssssss some great choices specially leeds
There is a massive difference between the Olympics and the World Cup in terms of cost. The main one being that we already, in 2010, have the stadiums in place. We could pretty much run the event tomorrow if we needed to. The olympics have had to build a load of the stuff
We have the best stadiums in Europe and it is madness that we haven’t had a World Cup since ‘66.
I’m all for it, it is the greatest event on Earth and I’m fully behind England getting it.
Jane, comment 1. I agree. What a waste of money – the olympics is costing enough. Correct me if I’m wrong but isn’t the whole country massivly in debt?
