Old Trafford: Stadium of the World Cup 2018

Old Trafford 2018 Stadium Venue

Owned by giant club Manchester United, Old Trafford is obviously included as one of the leading stadiums where some World Cup games will be played if England hosts the 2018 tournament. The ground is no stranger to big events. It has hosted the FA Cup semi-finals several times as a neutral stadium and was used for the England international games while the New Wembley was being rebuilt. It hosted matches of the 1966 World Cup, European Championship 1996 and the UEFA Champions League 2003 Final. It will be used in the 2012 Olympics being held in London. Not that it will have anything to prove here. Both UEFA and FIFA know fully well what the capabilities of this fabulous stadium are.

2018 Semi Final Venue: Old Trafford

Old Trafford has the largest capacity of all club-owned stadiums in England. It has over 76000 seats and probably will be expanded further before the 2018 event. It is the only UEFA 5-star rated facility in England. No wonder it is considered one of the best stadiums in the world, and as a gem, treasured and respected, by all Manchester United fans worldwide. It would be an honour for any international player to appear in a World Cup match for his country at this spectacular stadium. Should for some reason the FA decide against using the Wembley for the World Cup final, the choice would fall at once on this state-of-the-art arena, where on the Final day, it will truly be the Theatre of Dreams for the team that lift the World Cup trophy.
