Tottenham sign up stadium for London city bid

Tottenham’s proposed new stadium has become the first London ground to put itself forward as a venue to host games if England win the rights to the 2018 World Cup.

The club has recently submitted plans for a new 56,000 seated stadium and hope to be playing Premier League matches in the arena by 2012. Around 430 new homes, a 15 room hotel and commercial premises will also be built as part of the development.

London United are expecting to unveil the four grounds to represent the city that they will present to the FA as soon as this evening. With Tottenham already signed up and Wembley already set to host the opening match and the World Cup final, there are two more spots up for grabs which are expected to be filled by Arsenal’s Emirates Stadium and the 2012 Olympic Stadium.
