Upton Park violence will “not” harm 2018 bid
The Football Association has stated that the last week’s crowd trouble at West Ham will not affect England’s 2018 World Cup bid.
The fighting outside Upton Park alongside many supporters running onto the pitch highlighted a form of football hooliganism that many thought was a thing of the past. 13 arrests were made whilst the damage inside and outside of the stadium was clearly evident.

Ian Watmore, FA chief executive, said: “We have to make sure what happened is a one off. I think if we do, it won’t hurt the bid at all. FIFA and UEFA and many of the associations around the world do come to us for a lead on combating violence and racism, and we have to remain the best in the world at combating that.
Both clubs have vowed to ban any individuals found to be involved, but Watmore said there could be further punishments.
He said: “We’ve got to do the investigation and ascertain the facts. In our rules the clubs have the ability to ban their fans and both clubs have come out and said they will do so. From our point of view, we have to look at whether the club’s acted with due care and attention. If they didn’t then they can come into our disciplinary system.”

I think the police and stewards handled it well they stop some people getting into the game they got in the middle of rival supporters and it shows how well prepared the police are for violence this could easily of being bigger than it was if it was in other countries
