New Wembley Stadium for 2018 World Cup

New Wembley 2018

Wembley is situated in London and is owned by the English Football Association. It is used as the home ground of England where they play all their home internationals, and also domestic English club cup finals. Sometimes it serves to organise large non-football events like concerts and other sports events.

The newly-rebuilt Wembley stadium has the second largest capacity in all Europe, with the first being Barcelona’s Nou Camp. Wembley has a staggering capacity of 90,000 seats, which can all be covered with a sliding roof in the case of heavy rain. It cost England a huge record sum to rebuild, but this can be a wonderful investment. It is the stadium that will most likely host the World Cup final should England succeed in their bid to bring back the tournament to their country after 52 years (England hosted the WC in 1966 and won it). The old Wembley was the stadium that hosted the final in 1966.

2018 World Cup Final Venue

The new Wembley was completed on the 9th March 2007. It has a circumference of 1 km. The pitch was heavily criticised after the Croatia game as it cut up heavily during the game. However, there will be plenty of time to make the necessary adjustments to this state-of-the-art stadium before it hosts the big match of the 2018 World Cup. Any football fan would be amazed by the exciting thought of watching a World Cup final in a packed 90,000 Wembley Stadium, and it would serve as extra motivation for the England squad to bring the highest-rated trophy to their country.
