World Cup 2018 Bid planned by Qatar
Having been recently rejected for a place on the 2016 Olympics short-list, Qatar are planning a bid to host the World Cup in 2018. The International Olympic Committee denied Doha (the capital city of Qatar) a place on the short-list for 2016, but the country is keen to host a major tournament.
Qatar a small country, located on the Arabian Gulf, with plentiful gas and oil resources are now set to focus their efforts on hosting the lucrative football World Cup tournament. They have already made plans to build stadiums and hotels to accommodate the finals, they hosted the 2006 Asian Games and are already set to host the Asian Cup in 2011.
