The World Cup has been played every four years since 1930 (expect 1942 & 1946 due to the Second World War). The World Cup is an international football competition run by football’s governing body FIFA (Federation Internationale de Football Association).

I want the worldcup 2018 to be hosted by England because we are the country that created football. We have some of the best stadia in the world and we are also lucky to have the best league in the world in the premiership with some of the greatest teams and players in action. I believe hosting the world cup could greatly improve the countrys economy greatly, although the competition will be expensive to host becuase money will have to be spent on improving the host cities and stadia, but hosting the best sporting competition in the world has more advantages than disadvantages. I believe hosting the world cup would also create more jobs therefore less unemployment, increase tourism within the country and bringing the country and the rest of the world together and united within the lands of our great country.
The world cup coming to england would be magnificient. The bid needs to be properly backed by the FA and the government If this means pledging money from stadium and facilities then so be it. Olympic stadium in london should also be used and not the emirates as this can hold over 80,000. Small things like providing open spaces with big screens and proper catering for dignitries and the media are a way of swaying votes. Wembley is a great new addition to the evergrowing stadia being built across the uk with new goodison and anfield coming soon. Pompey expansion of villa park st james park etc. By 2018 new infrastructure such as king cross eurostarr terminal and t5 heathrow can only bolster are bid. Go for it fa and show Sepp Blatter that the uk rules when it comes to footie.
Maybe England will win, but I think the competition is very strong, so the country with the best plan and alot of money will take it…
I am a South African wich can’t wait for the world cup to start in 2010. I also know that the world eyes are on us and think that we can not host a suscessful world cup. Yes there are issues with building of stadia but lets have a look at other countries hotsing major sporting events like. Athens in 2004. A week before the olympic games where due to start the where reports the the Greecks were planting trees and getting the city ready for the games. France 2007 Rugby World cup two day before the final they had striking action by the road and public transport department. And there are still other city, countries who had problems before they where ready to host the event. So please people of the world wait until 2010 to make your final mind up if we could and can host a successfull world cup. We all saw the prelim draw in Durban a few weeks ago, if that is what we can do for a 3 hour show just inmagne what we can do and orginize for a whole month of soccer festivals, parties. Thank you to Fifa who seen the potential in South Africa and awarded the world cup to SA. We wount let you down. And to the world who is coming to South Afica in 2010, you will have a time of your life and you will not forget it. Whoza 2010…………… Nick Cape Town South Africa
I think England would be an extremely good country to the world cup , just because ‘the beautiful game’ of football was created in England. The ‘Wembly stadium’ is probably the most well-known stadium in the world. Also the premiership has been very sucessful over the past three years.
England2018 would be a great world cup as it’s always better when a Rich European countrys tries to host a World cup just because of the publicity makes the statistics more interesting.
The stadium’s are ‘world-class’ as you need 13 brillant stadiums in order to host the world game.
In England at the moment we’ve got a ever-growing problem of obesity and if England gets the World cup and the Oympics hopefully the country will get a bigger insentive to become healthier.
If England gets the world cup it will be great fun for the small country, so come on FA and make the bid of your life to get the world cup to England and hopefully it will be a repeat of the ‘glory years’ of 1966.
While I would absolutely love for England to host 2018 I’ve a sneaking suspicion it’ll end up in Russia as a PR ‘World football’ type move.
BUT I do think we’ll mount a strong case and that may sway it in our direction, it’s just that i suspect world politics will get in the way.
[...] established stadiums. Shame the head of FIFA hates us otherwise I’d have higher hopes for it all. 2018 World Cup ? 2018 England England 2018 World Cup Bid: Fabio Capello Is In Switzerland | UK News | Sky News Australia seems [...]
MK as a venue……Your having a laugh!!! Who’s going to pay to put the seats in??? The capacity is not 30,000 and never will be unless us the tax payer put our hands in our pockets again……
I would be very honoured if we in england were to hold the 2018 world cup.I believe because as a country we love football so much we will host a extremely fantastic unforgetable world cup, win or lose we would show the world the meaning of football support and the bond it brings between us all. I am backing this 100% go england….
I will not be supporting the bid to host in 2018 because it will end up being London centric again just as it was in 66 and 96. The host nation must be forced to play some games away, and although other nations take their games to the people England seem destined to be based solely in London . I sincerley hope that FIFA, should they choose England , dictate that they should take the game around the country.
I think the world cup should come home to England and where best to have the final of the greatest competition in the world but in the greatest stadium (Wembley)? However, can we get some commentators and pundits that actually know what they’re talking about this time around, they constantly remind us of world cup history but they forget that it was an English team that was the first to win the “world cup”, the Sir Thomas Lipton Trophy 1910-1911 the team was called West Auckland in County Durham!! Here endeth the lesson.
I want the world cup to be at england becoz then the the england natoin could win the world cup. Porstmoth will be one of the host cities and thats amazing. we’ve got the stadiums and we’ve got a huge fanbase so plzzzz soport our natoin to be the winning team for the world 2018 world cup and win the bid. There was one thing that the primeinister said that the only thing he disagrese with presedent obama is thay want to win the 2018 world cup bid. so back our president.
England is so greedy, It wants to host everything. Take a break and let other countries have a go with the world cup
comooooon ENGLAND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
The most important thing is for England to win the interntaionl hearst and minds and to get the best cities and stadia for hosting the world. Apart from Wembley and Emirates Manchester X2, Newcastle and Liverpool are must have stadia as well as being great places to visit. When it comes to stadia Sunderland and Aston Villa must be strong contenders. It would also be good to showcase places across the whole of England so for me as many stadia as possible. Shame you cant use Cardiff as well. They did such a good job stading in for Wembley.
lets go ENGLAND. England is the only country that can host it tomorrow if they wanted to. Football was invented in England. The best league and stadiums are in England. The #1 global language is English which is the language of England. Tourism will gain a big boost and everything else will also. Well I can go on forever. ENGLAND 2018!!!!
The first ever football event took place in England. England’s great history and it’s modern stadiums and infrastructure make it perfect to host a world cup. With the olympics in 2012 also, we will have had a similar experience of hosting a world event in recent years. It’s been along time since England hosted and despite the other countries who are yet to host a world cup, it’s clear that England is much better equipped for the bid than these. No other country can boast the quality and quantity of stadiums that England can – One of the main reasons why England are best for the job. COME ON ENGLAND!! Final at Wembley!!
I really want England to host it because (a) I think we will put on an excellent show and (b) As a nation we are football mad. Not quite sure how England can be accused of greedy. Last time we held it 1966 even today thats nearly 44 years ago. Oh yeh weve got the olympics too but then again the last time we held them was 1948 so again twice in 64 years, not really greedy is it??
I really hope :-
a) we can get the 2018 world cup
b) we can win it
c) that we won’t have the violence that erupted in euro ‘96
Cheers
Richard
England will be a fantastic place to hold the 2018 world cup. I know Sunderland will be a teriffic host city, friendly people, great stadium, fantastic seafronf with award winning parks. Most of all the people of the city really want to show the world what a great place this country is.
Where the world cup is played doesn’t mean a lot to me. I don’t care if they choose never to allow the World cup to played on these shores again,it will be sad, but it will be their loss, not ours. What matters to me is that we WIN the World cup. I read a comment that English football supporters lack the passion of other countries, who ever said that really doesn’t understand how deep football runs within this countries veins. The men in grey suits will come and go and their names quickly forgotten, but the heart of football will, forever, beat strong in this land.
save the money we wasted a packet on 06 and we’re doing the same again
england has a weak influence in fifa put the cash into a euro cup bid
which we would be more likely to win.
As an American, but a HUGE Man U fan, I would love to see the wonderful nation of England host these World Cup games. It is a nation rich in football tradition and there are no other fans in the world like the Brits! I have been to the U.K. and would love to someday go back. So, if it counts, or if anyone cares, this football fan wants England to get the bid.
sepp blatter is courting the russians for 2018 money talks in fifas world.
the need for fifa to have so many candidates and their generous donations are being strung along. fifa oppose dual countries hosting goodbye to spain/portugal and holland/belguim then that leaves us v russia they have the gold, oil and gas we have a boatload of debt and further debt if we get comp which is highly unlikely.the usa will get 2022 at the expence of dubai unrealistic cos the heat and indonesia, where? who? and the aussies no big fan base and too far away.the yanks have everything to offer and every fifa member always states that usa 94 was the best world cup ever with fifas new rules we will not be allowed to apply until the 2030 finals another generation away.
save the money fa invest in a uefa euro bid with the scots if needed but stop wasting your time and our money on 2018. fifa dont like us especialy after the charles dempsey fiasco which got the germans 06 the members of concacaf, africa and asia still hold that againts us and make up the majority of the votes.
Lastnight i spent 2 hours trying to explain to my girl friend that England is a great place to hold the world cup.We a more than capable to host it with the amount of quality stadiums we have, the hotels for supporters and we have many was of travel including large number of airports for traveling fans.but she still thinks we havent got a chance???
so i said ok name a country that would have a good chance, she couldnt name 1?
silly woman.
